Children's Day Celebrations at Jan Seva-Udaan

November 14th is regarded as Children’s Day in India which is the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Chacha Nehru, as he is fondly called and remembered today, loved children and took steps and initiatives to ensure that education reaches children belonging to every nook and corner of the country.

Children’s Day is often considered a fun day for children but it also aims to spread awareness regarding child rights, education and care. The country celebrates the day by means of functions and events dedicated to children. Children are made to feel even more special on this day and Udaan was no exception in doing so.

The students were decked in bright and colourful outfits and they put up an excellent impromptu show of song, dance and poetry. They received gifts of toys and chocolates in abundance and relished a delicious lunch of chicken curry, chutney and mishti doi.

The highlight of the event was the presence of Anushka Sharma, an ex-student of Udaan who is now studying in Union Chapel School in Class-VII. She visited Jan Seva to join in the celebrations and it was a huge motivation for all the younger kids and a moment of pride for us all at her accomplishment.

Children are a gift from the angels. Children’s Day gives teachers a chance to celebrate their childhood. Here’s wishing our tiny tots a very happy and fun-filled Children’s Day and a bright future ahead.

A big thank you to her sponsors too for making a difference in every one of our Children’s lives.
