Giving children the gift of hope - a journey of compassion & care

The story of the SICW family is one of love, compassion, sacrifice and the power of the human spirit to triumph against all odds.
Our journey began in 1977, when a Swedish lady came calling at Assembly of God Hospital, enquiring whether there were any abandoned children who needed support. Dr Zarine Dadina, Founder Member of SICW, placed a child rescued from the streets of Kolkata with Lillian Thybell, as the lady was called, and soon there were 6 other children to join her in her mission to make a meaningful difference. The number of children continued to grow and in 1978, the home, now named 'Noah's Ark' moved to a new location at 53B Elliot Road.

He was an undernourished, petrified child, languishing in a Govt. Home for over 8 months before we found him. Duta was the name we gave the thin, sad child with haunting eyes who clung to us helplessly when we brought him to our centre.

Erasing barriers with a bond that's forever

PATRICK NILSSON SUNIL now PATRICK NILSSON, left SICW with his Swedish family way back in 1979 when he was only a few months old. Patrick came back to SICW as a young successful man of 30 now working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden and travelling across the globe. Patrick spent several days with us in a homecoming of sorts and was greatly comforted meeting staff members who cared for him as a baby.
