A Glance at a few Success Stories from our Education Sponsorship Program

Arpita Chandra: Arpita was a diligent student and hailed from a humble family from Burdwan. Her father tutors’ children at home and he supported his family on his meagre income. He received support for Arpita’s higher education with sponsorship from SICW. Since Nursing has good job prospects in the Government sector Arpita decided to pursue Nursing. She qualified the written test and interview at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan and started studying the General Nursing Midwifery course. After completion Arpita was offered a job as a staff nurse at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan (previously known as Shishu Mangal Hospital).

Gurpreet Kaur Negi: Gurpreet is a 22-year-old girl who finished her graduation with support from SICW. She is a resident of Salkia, Howrah where she stays with her family of four members. Father is a clerk in a small office with meagre earnings. A very committed and promising student, Gurpreet academic performance was praiseworthy in school and college. She ranked 4th in West Bengal in her Class 12 Higher Secondary Board examination. She completed college from Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration and she pursued a degree in B.Com. Her hard work paid off and she received placement in Ernst & Young as a trainee.

Pabitra Kumar Ghorai: Pabitra was a student of B.Tech in Future Institute of Engineering management. He always desired to become an Engineer. Pabitra at a very young age was clear about the goals he had to achieve. He comes from a lower middle-class family of four members: his mother, father, grandmother and himself. After completing his Engineering, he was offered a campus placement and has started working in Cognizant as a part of an Artificial Intelligence program and he feels that it is an amazing opportunity and it will really help his career. He is really grateful for all the support he has received from SICW and his donors.

Priyanka Pal: Priyanka is a 23-year-old girl and a resident of Lalgarh in Jhargram, West Bengal. She is the first generation to access an education and pursue a nursing career. She is a sincere and hardworking girl who always gives her best. In December after completing her course she secured her first private job in Sanaka Hospital in Durgapur in West Bengal as a staff nurse and worked for a year. In October last year she got her confirmed Government job as a permanent staff nurse, grade 2 at Belpahari Rural Hospital in Belapahari. She is truly enjoying her work in taking care of the patients with love and devotion.

Shraboni Ghosh: Shraboni, a 22-year-old from Medipur was a student of Auxiliary Nursing and midwifery (ANM), which was a two-year nursing course, from Kakdwip Nursing Training School, Kolkata. She has done an internship in Kakdwip Super specialty and sub divisional Hospital, in the antenatal ward. She has gained immense knowledge and experience through this internship which helped her when she started her job. She formally joined as a nurse. Currently she is working as government Health Assistant Female (HAF) on effect from 25.05.2022 under Dwarigeria Rural Hospital, Garbeta 3 block, Chandrakona road, Paschim Medinipur.

Sanjay Josh: Sanjay was an ambitious and promising student and hailed from Bankura. Coming from a low-income family where his father worked as a daily labour, they had very limited resources so Sanjay’s future was always at stake. Sanjay was one of those students who continually performed well in class. He finished a 2-year diploma at the Institute of Pharmacy in Bankura. Then he wanted to pursue a Degree in Pharmacy. He became greatly inspired by the support that he received from SICW. He got admission in B.C. Roy college of Pharmacy and he cleared all his exams with distinction. After graduation he cleared the public service commission examination and was offered a placement in the ESI hospital as a pharmacist. SICW is immensely proud of his accomplishments.

Rajesh Khan: At the age of 23 Rajesh Khan is proud to call himself a cancer survivor. He was formerly diagnosed with high-risk Acute lymphoblastic Leukemia. He has an amazingly strong will to live, he not only fought cancer but the psychological trauma that comes with it He hails from a under-privileged family in Potashpur, Purba Medinipur and pursued Bio science in Higher Secondary examination from Harcharan Vidyapith, Potashpur. Apart from the subjects taught at school Rajesh opted for a Diploma in Software administration (DSA). His family needed funding desperately to continue his higher studies as they suffered a lot of financial expenses to cover for Rajesh’s treatment. As Rajesh was a sincere student, the parents wanted to continue his education though they lacked the resources. They approached SICW for his education and received sponsorship. Rajesh chose Hotel management for his higher studies in which he excelled as well. He was offered a campus placement and secured a job at hotel Ramada by Wyndham, Amritsar in effect from 2nd august 2022. At present Rajesh works as a Guest Service Associate in Food and Beverage Service Department with hotel Ramada by Wyndham as part of the team. We are sure he will create a bright future for himself.

Navin Ahmed: Navin is the only child of her parents. She has been a very diligent student since childhood. Her father is the sole bread earner in the family. He works as an electrician with erratic earnings. The parents lacked resources to bear Navin’s higher education expenses and requested SICW to support her studies. After she received the support, she continued her studies with a great fervour. After completing school, she got admission in Bethune College, which is a well-known college for studying psychology. She was motivated and worked really hard to achieve a good score. She ranked the third highest in her final year exams and scored 69%. Navin joined her Masters’ degree in Applied Psychology from Raja Bazar Science College. She was pursuing her dream subject and enjoyed studying the course. She did well in her postgraduate examinations and her final score of 2nd year final score was 7.95 CGPA. Her 12 years of journey with SICW and her sincerity and focus has helped her to create a bright future for herself. She wishes to complete her M.Phil. after completing her internship. We wish her luck in her journey to success.
