At Jan Seva, we believe that a child’s healthy growth and development are strengthened when parents are equipped with the right knowledge and guidance. To support families in their parenting journey, regular awareness programmes, guidance sessions, and training workshops are organised for parents of children enrolled in our crèche. These initiatives help make parenting more informed, healthy, and stress-free by addressing important topics such as child nutrition, screen time management, sleep routines, hygiene practices, child safety, and the crucial subject of Good Touch and Bad Touch.
As part of these efforts, awareness sessions were conducted by Parvarish Foundation through its programme “Aao Baat Kare” from its Kolkata office on 11 February 2026 and 22 April 2026. A total of 60 parents from Jan Seva participated in these sessions, including parents associated with both the ECCEC and Udaan programmes. The theme of the sessions was “Child Nutrition for Healthy Growth and Well-being.”
The sessions focused on educating parents about the importance of maintaining a structured daily routine for children, including regular meal times and adequate sleep schedules. Good hygiene practices, such as keeping clothes and utensils clean, were also highlighted as essential habits that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
A special highlight of the programme was an interactive session by Dr Dipti Agarwal, Nutritionist and Dietician, who provided valuable guidance on planning a balanced and nutritious diet for children. Parents were encouraged to make informed food choices that support their child’s physical and mental development.
During the discussions, parents were advised to avoid unhealthy habits such as excessive consumption of junk food, prolonged screen time, late-night mobile phone usage, and irregular sleep patterns. The benefits of home-cooked meals were strongly emphasized, along with the importance of developing healthy hydration habits. Mothers and children were encouraged to drink water regularly throughout the day and include nutrient-rich foods such as wheat, rice, boiled vegetables, milk, eggs, and fruits as part of a balanced daily diet.
Beyond nutrition, the sessions also underscored the importance of open and honest communication between parents and children. Parents were encouraged to spend quality time talking with their children and creating an environment where they feel comfortable sharing their experiences, concerns, and emotions. Such communication helps build trust, strengthens family bonds, and plays a vital role in the overall well-being and healthy development of every child.
Through initiatives like these, Jan Seva continues to empower parents with practical knowledge and skills, ensuring that children receive the care, support, and nurturing environment they need to thrive.
