On 28th and 29th May 2025, Jan Seva had the privilege of hosting a two-day workshop on personal hygiene conducted by the B.Sc. Nursing students of Ruby College of Nursing, undertaken by Ruby General Hospital Pvt. Ltd. A group of 15 seventh-semester nursing students, accompanied by two faculty members, engaged with both the children and adult learners of Jan Seva.
The sessions for children above 4 years of age were designed to be highly interactive and practical. The young participants were taught important aspects of daily hygiene, including brushing teeth, proper handwashing, bathing, washing clothes and bedsheets, dusting and cleaning their rooms, and most importantly, maintaining private body hygiene. Through demonstrations and fun activities, the children not only learned but also enjoyed applying this essential knowledge in their day-to-day lives.
The Adult Literacy Program learners also attended a separate session, gaining valuable insights into personal hygiene practices that are crucial for healthy living.
For the Ruby College of Nursing students, the workshop went beyond teaching—it was an experience in patience, communication, and child engagement. They learned the importance of simplifying concepts, addressing children’s curious questions, and adapting to different learning levels.
At the conclusion of the program, the faculty members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Jan Seva for providing a meaningful platform to share their knowledge and interact with children from underprivileged communities. The two-day initiative left both the learners and the nursing students enriched with new experiences and a deeper understanding of the importance of hygiene in everyday life.
