Jan Seva has always believed in empowering parents so that children can grow up in a disciplined, healthy, and knowledgeable environment. With this objective, a Parent Awareness Session was organized in collaboration with the Parvarish Foundation on 28th January 2026 (Wednesday) on the topic “Child Nutrition for Healthy Growth and Well-being.”
The session aimed to educate parents about proper food habits, the importance of a healthy sleep cycle, and lifestyle practices that contribute to better brain development and physical growth in children. During the early years of growth, proper care and nutrition play a vital role in shaping a child’s overall development. Food, in many ways, acts as the first and most essential form of medicine that supports a child’s health and well-being.
In recent times, both parents and children have increasingly developed a preference for fast food and processed items. Such habits can lead to several health concerns during childhood and may eventually affect a child’s long-term development. The session therefore focused on creating awareness about these challenges while guiding parents toward healthier and more practical alternatives.
The session was conducted by Dr. Dipti Agarwal, who shared valuable insights with the crèche parents present at the program. She spoke about the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and emphasized the need to include protein-rich foods in a child’s daily meals. She also highlighted key aspects such as maintaining proper health and hygiene, ensuring the regular consumption of milk and safe drinking water, and keeping food preparation areas clean.
Dr. Agarwal also advised parents on simple yet essential household practices, such as washing utensils thoroughly, covering cooked food, and using filtered or boiled water for cooking. She cautioned against the excessive consumption of junk food and commercially marketed health drinks. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring timely sleep for children, maintaining regular meal schedules, reducing the use of oil in cooking, and including green vegetables and Vitamin C–rich foods in children’s diets at least twice a week.
As the session progressed, parents listened attentively and actively participated by asking questions and sharing their concerns. Along with Dr. Agarwal, Sonia Mahajan and Nigar Yusuf were present to help technically conduct the session and explain the concepts to the parents in a clear and practical manner.
Parents from both the ECCEC program and Udaan, the specially-abled children’s program, attended the session. By the end of the program, parents expressed great satisfaction with the knowledge they had gained and showed genuine interest in adopting these healthy practices in their homes, reinforcing the shared commitment to nurturing healthier futures for their children.
